About

Mayou Trikerioti is an award winning designer, dramaturg and creative director working in theatre, film, events and advertising. She trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School after finishing her BA (Hons) in Drama and Theatre Studies at the University of Kent.

Theatre Design:

She has worked for major theatres and festivals in both the UK and Greece including the Garrick and Harold Pinter in the West End; the Young Vic and Rose theatre, the Greek National Theatre and the Ancient Amphitheatre of Epidavros. She works on all scales, grand and small, and her portfolio ranges from plays that enjoyed successful runs of multiple years to one-off, site-specific performances and from West End shows to fringe gems as well as community art projects that engage local young people and residents.

In the UK recent designs include George Takei’s Allegiance, Charing Cross Theatre; Captain Corelli’s Mandolin for Neil Laidlow Productions at the Harold Pinter Theatre, Macbeth at the Garrick, Man for the Young Vic, Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine at Diana Theatre, Athens, Lysistrata at the Ancient Amphitheatre of Epidavros and When we Dead Awaken by The Norwegian Ibsen Company in London’s Coronet and Norway and the innovative baby dance show Underwater, Sadlers Wells and UK tour

In Greece notable designs include: My Life’s Party with long time collaborator Eleni Randou, Athens and Cyprus; Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine at Diana Theatre, Athens; Lysistrata at the Ancient Amphitheatre of Epidavros.

Production & Costume Design:

Since 2007 Mayou has designed feature and short films that have travelled across the globe and opened at international film festivals, including Cannes, Venice Film Festival, Berlin and Toronto IFF. Mayou is also an alumni of Berlinale Talents.

Since 2015 Mayou only costume designs for the screen.

Recently she designed costumes for prolific director David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future dreaming up the worlds in his mind and dressing Viggo Mortensen, Léa Seydoux and Kristen Stewart, Scott Speedman and Don McKellar and the period film Fantasmi in Viaggio starring Paolo Rossi and George Chorraface. She has also notably costumed Dark Crimes, directed by Venice Silver Lion winner Alexandros Avranas, dressing amongst others Jim Carrey, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Agata Kulesza and Siamak Etemadi’s first feature, Pari, staring the amazing Melika Forurtan and Shahbaz Noshir.

Coming Soon:

Mayou is designing the UK premier of Belbel’s Blood at The Tobacco Factory, the tour of The Hero Next Door by Onjali Q. Raúf and the second instalment of Xenia Aidonopoulou’s baby & young children shows trilogy, Skydiver.

Further ahead Mayou will be designing A Christmas Carol in Oxford and the UK premier of Syncopation and Piaf at the Bristol Old Vic.

For the screen, Mayou has just designed the costumes for the feature Drift for Anthony Chen staring the amazing Cynthia Erivo and is looking forward to rejoining forces with Thanos Anastopoulos in Greece for Thebes and Nikolas Kolovos in Sweden for The Hermit.

Reinventing the Performing Arts Post Covid-19

During the Spring 2020 first global lockdown she created an international FB group Reinventing the Performing Arts Post Covid-19 in order to connect theatre professionals and problem solve what is happening right now globally.  During the second lockdown in autumn 2020 she has started hosting The Stage of Things, global check-ins via Zoom, connecting theatre professionals across the globe.

WOS:

Since 2016 Mayou has been bringing community artists together in the Wapping Open Studios Event she created and now manages and organises. Currently finushed WOS23.

Change of Art:

Mayou is one of the founding members and co-artistic directors of Change of Art, a community arts project created by a group of theatre practitioners and artists who came together through shared activism.
